Cole Eiserman won’t be coming to Montreal: Mathias Brunet confirms it

Who will be drafted by the four teams that will have a say before the Habs? Who will the Flanelle select with the fifth pick?

Strap on your toque with a spit, because these questions are likely to come up quite often, now that we know that the Habs have the fifth pick of the auction.

And make the most of it, because the Habs’ goal is to not have as good a pick in 2025.

Macklin Celebrini will be chosen by the Sharks and after that, the path is open. It looks like everything is pointing to Cayden Lindstrom right now for the Habs, but that can (obviously) change.

We know that the Habs, happy not to have backed out of the lottery, want to prioritize a forward… or, at the very least, a right-handed defenseman. And with Artyom Levshunov (the best right-handed defenseman of his generation) likely to be gone, expect a forward.

In reality, the Habs will have several forwards to choose from, and they’ll be hoping that the teams ahead of them will select defensemen, so as to have a good pool of forwards.

But whatever the size of the pool, it seems that Cole Eiserman is not a serious option in the eyes of the Flanelle. That’s what Mathias Brunet reported in the latest episode of the Processus podcast.

For several weeks now, there have been strong indications that the Habs aren’t necessarily interested in the player. It has not met with him as of April 4, which is worth noting.

Although Eiserman is quite a scorer, he doesn’t always seem to have the right attitude and is very one-dimensional. He doesn’t want to change for anyone and obviously, that must scare some teams.

Mathias Brunet is the second to confirm that Eiserman won’t be drafted by the Habs, since Tony Marinaro also made similar comments a few weeks ago.

Clearly, attitude is important to the Habs. It was the case with Matvei Michkov in 2023, and now it seems to be the same with Eiserman.

In bursts

– Obviously.

– No Connor McDavid?

– Oh?

– Nice addition.

– It’s about time.
