It’s been a long time since I enjoyed watching the Canadiens play this much.
And I’m sure I’m not alone on my island!
After the last few difficult years, it’s refreshing to see the team win…
There’s a real buzz in the city right now since the Canadiens are the team of the hour in the NHL.
The CH is just one point behind the Bruins and a playoff spot… And they are also just three points behind the Lightning and third place in the Atlantic Division.
The club is progressing, but to what extent?
I’m asking this because this morning, Réjean Tremblay stated in his column that the progress in terms of points collected by the team “is quite minimal.”
And he is right.

After 44 games last year, the Canadiens had a record of 19 wins, 18 losses, and seven overtime losses.
The team earned 45 points in its first 44 games of the season, to put it another way.
What does it look like this year?
The CH has a record of 22 wins, 18 losses, and four overtime losses after playing its first 44 games of the season.
That gives 48 points:

The difference in points isn’t huge, let’s be clear.
But it is significant in the standings. After 44 games last season, the CH was sitting in 24th place in the league.
They are in 18th place as I write these lines.
All in all, we see progress and that’s what’s important. The Canadiens have managed to bounce back after a terrible start to the season and they find themselves today in an interesting position.
This aligns with the organization’s goals, by the way. The management talked about the mix even before the start of the season and they wanted the team to improve collectively.
That’s what’s happening right now.

The NHL has canceled escrow payments from players for the rest of the year due to higher revenue earnings.
Not only that, but they’re also sharing their extra profits with the players (2-6%).
The salary cap was projected to go to $93M, I’m not so sure anymore.. https://t.co/Q8FQ8Zbnm5
